Phoenix has a range of festivals and events throughout the year, with the hot summer months being less action-packed than the cooler seasons.Here are some of the highlights:
- One of the biggest events held in Phoenix is the Scottsdale Arts Festival. The popular festival is held annually over a three-day weekend in March. Live performances and presentations offer entertainment while you stroll among the exhibits and stalls.
- The world's largest show of Arabian horses is held towards the end of February in Phoenix and is called the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show. More than 2,000 Arabian horses are on show and many stalls are set up by related businesses.
- Plenty of eating, drinking and dancing take place towards the end of September at the Way Out West Oktoberfest. The popular German Oktoberfest has been modified to include a Wild West, country music theme.
- Downtown Scottsdale holds a Thieves Market at the beginning of November. This popular and long-running event features many stalls, live music, art displays and plenty of food.
- The National Public Lands Day Outdoor Recreation Fair takes place in late September. Many types of activities are on offer, with some of the most popular being learning about wild animals, outdoor workshops and hikes on trails with park rangers.
