As the capital of country music and lover of all other music forms, it is not surprising that this is reflected in the staggering array of music festivals held in Nashville.Among those that are most notable are:
- January welcomes the Commemoration of the Battle of New Orleans at the Hermitage.
- The Iroquois Steeplechase in early May is an equestrian event with races and jumping that is good fun for the whole family.
- The TNN Country Awards take place in June at the famous Opryland. Featuring world-famous country stars, this is a must for all country music lovers.
- June sees the International Country Music Fan Fair bringing together more than 100 artists.
- The Music City Pig Fest is an event for all the family. Hog calling, barbecues and horseback riding are all featured at this August event.
- The Tennessee State Fair comes to town in mid-September. Attracting huge crowds of people, it is one of Nashville's largest events.
