Information about Mallorca Festivals
In addition to the many Christian festivals that are observed on the island, there are some unique festivities honouring the island's patron saint and marking significant historical events.Among the highlights are:
- The Festival of San Sebastián in January celebrates the patron saint of Palma with animal blessing ceremonies and pet processions.
- Sa Rua carnival on the weekend before Lent is a colourful occasion with costumes, dancing and floats.
- Semana Santa, known also as holy week, is held in Palma. This summer event sees week-long processions and festivities.
- Harvest festivals are celebrated all over the island during September and October.
