Information about Honolulu Festivals
It's no surprise that the natives of an island paradise love to celebrate and Honolulu doesn't disappoint when it comes to festivals and special events.Several athletic events as well as numerous displays traditional culture fill Honolulu's calendar. A few worth checking out are:
- Ala Wai Challenge in the last weekend in January. This event kicks off the New Year with a series of traditional Hawaiian games.
- Hawaii Challenge International Sportkite Championship during the first weekend in March. This is the oldest event of its kind in the world and competitors from all over the world participate in this unique spectacle.
- Held in mid-April, Honolulu International Bed Race is a popular charity event where teams push beds through the streets to raise money for children.
- Taste of Honolulu, featuring outdoor beer and wine tasting as well as cooking demonstrations, this late June event is Hawaii's premiere food and wine festival.
