Information about Edinburgh Festivals
Many important sporting and cultural events are held in Edinburgh throughout the year including the famous arts festivals each summer.Highlights include:
- Hogmany, every New Year's Eve, with lively celebrations including a huge street party in the centre of Edinburgh.
- Burns Night, in late January, when traditional suppers are held around Edinburgh to celebrate the life of the Scottish poet Robert Burns.
- Edinburgh International Science Festival, held in early April, features events at venues around Edinburgh.
- Edinburgh Royal Highland Show, a large agricultural show held during the month of June.
- The Edinburgh Festival, every August; this is actually a number of separate events celebrating the arts and culture, including the International Festival, Fringe Festival, a film festival, a book festival and the Edinburgh Military Tattoo.
