The city of Chicago is one of America's most entertaining and culturally vibrant cities and as such festivals and events fill the city's calendar every year.Some of the highlights include:
- The Chinese New Year Parade in late January/early February is a popular choice with floats, displays and fun all there for the taking along Wentworth avenue in Chicago's Chinatown.
- The Spring Festival of Dance from late March to early June is the city's premier dance festival held at the Shubert Theatre and other venues across the city.
- The Venetian Night celebration is held on the last Saturday in July and is a popular event with dozens of boats passing by Chicago's Grant Park in a procession.
- Art Chicago, held during the second week of May, is the city's major annual showcase for contemporary art and is held at the Navy Pier's Festival Hall.
- The start of the American football season in October is kicked off every year with a series of opening concerts at the Civic Centre for the Performing Arts.
