Amsterdam hosts a number of social and sporting events throughout the year.Highlights include:
- Amsterdam Art Week every March, with events held at venues around the city.
- The Amsterdam International Marathon; held each May, this event attracts runners from far and wide.
- Open-Air Theatre in the Vondelpark, every July.
- Flower Pageant (Bloemencorso), held on the first Saturday in September.
- Holland Festival of Dance, Music and Drama, held in June.
